You’ll learn exactly who your “team” is and how to identify high-risk handover mistakes. Dr. Schuler will discuss how to address peer-to-peer incivility to change your culture. Infection Prevention: How to Conduct a Risk Assessment and Outbreak Investigation

Get the step-by-step guide on creating an infection prevention program that meets Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s (CMS) requirements for an ambulatory surgery center. We’ll cover all that’s involved in conducting a proper risk assessment, the best ranking system for prioritizing infection risks, and how to use outcomes for internal benchmarking. You’ll leave with a risk assessment template to use at your facility and an understanding of the CDC steps to take in an outbreak investigation.

Dr. Yasser Dahab, an anesthesiologist, will share details of a guideline he has written on variations of pain management using different modalities for the safe management of postoperative pain in children and adults. His presentation will address preoperative education, perioperative pain management planning, the use of different pharmacological and nonpharmacological modalities, organizational policies and procedures, and transition to outpatient care. This is an especially important and timely topic to discuss with the ongoing opioid crisis in our country.
